Sit still for a moment.
Listen.
Listen to the sounds around you. Listen to your breathing. Listen to your internal dialog.
For many of us, as we prepare for the holiday season, things can get very noisy indeed in our minds and lives. Parties, gifts, food and a full supply of people rushing about. Or if we are feeling down or like we are struggling or don't have loved ones to spend the holidays with - our internal world may be very noisy indeed as our focus and attention moves toward all that we don't have or can't get.
In the mind, listening is a type of focus. It allows us to be present in the moment and is also the key to helping us step out of automatic reaction in the world.
We invite you in this holiday season to listen to the world inside and around you. And to take this listening into your work with the ICAP™ Release Meter System.
Approval (love), control and security
One of the most powerful ways to work with your subconscious mind is to listen to your internal motivations and relate them to one of three lacks - approval, control and/or security. Lester Levinson taught us that by relating your thoughts and impulses back to one or more of these wants (lack) and then releasing them - you are able to clear large amounts of underlying negative subconscious motivations.
And the most powerful way to catch these motivations is in the moment as they come up. And what better time to practice than the holidays!
PAUSE
This holiday season give yourself the gift of listening and spending time with yourself. It doesn't have to be a lot of time - simply stopping and standing still when you're in the midst of the hustle and bustle for a second. That's it - you're tapped into this focus.
WARM LISTENING
One powerful gift you can give this year is to practice a bit of quiet, warm listening. Instead of chatting and trying to get your points of view heard in a conversation, try seeing what happens when you choose a strong, warm, loving listening in the conversation. Let a little warm silence enter the space. Or if that's a stretch - try simply paying closer attention than usual to what they are saying as they say it.
GIFTS, PARTIES and EMOTIONS, OH MY
Play at being conscious this season. When you begin to write a card or give a gift, stop and relate that action to one of the wants. Are you wanting approval (love), control or security in that giving? If so simply ask yourself if you could let it go - say "Yes" strongly - then continue on your way. Now, you can still give the present or go to the party, or not, but you're not letting your unconscious reactions run the show.
If you feel a fear come up as you get in your car or If you feel angry at someone for something they did or didn't do - stop, relate it to one of the lacking feelings. Ask yourself,
"Does that bring up a feeling of wanting or lacking approval, control or security?"
Ask yourself if you could let that lacking feeling go - and say "Yes" strongly. Even if you're not sure that it worked - simply believe that it did and move on.
Notice as you begin to clear these reactive habits that you begin to access the higher functions of your mind. Creativity begins to flow as you find ways to be in the world that are kinder to yourself, the environment and the people around you. You begin to listen to your deeper, true self and your intuition as to when and where you are supposed to be - you know when to call someone, when to stay in your own business, when to be quiet and when to engage.
ATTACHMENTS AND AVERSIONS
If you're struggling to "feel" whether your releasing is working or when you are reacting in your life simply hop onto your ICAP™ Release Meter and do Attachments and Aversions to Something General (Audio 21) with the situation that you feel troubled by in mind. Attachment and Aversion exercises are always a quick way to bring up subconscious junk about any situation in your life and relate it back to the three wants - then clear it.
This is where the ICAP™ Release Meter really helps us to go more deeply and quickly with this process of bringing up our subconscious reactions - by seeing a high score - and then seeing the score lower as we become more practiced at working with our mind. Being able to see these reactions on the screen also helps us to begin recognizing the "feeling" in our body and the behaviors that appear when we are reacting rather than consciously moving through the world.
One of things that is noticeable about this type of clearing in our lives is how those things that seemed so noisy, frightening and uncomfortable begin to become quiet and peaceful. We are even able to allow these experiences to be gifts - gifts that our world gives to us so that we can be free of the reactive mind.
So, happy holidays to all of you. We're so grateful that you are a part of our family of practice and freedom.
We see your December being filled with
Courageousness, Acceptance and Peace
and then that moving out into the world from
each and every one of us! |
